July-August 2025 in pictures

Here are a few photos to give you a flavour of what we've been up to this summer.

On 12 July, the Tour de France passed just a few kilometres from where we live. It was a great experience to see the advertising caravan go by for 30 minutes and then the peloton of bikes for 30 seconds 😃. We counted over 500 vehicles preceding and following the cyclists!




Mid-July, we gathered in Lyon with Carolyn's family to celebrate her parents' 50th wedding anniversary.


We discovered how skilled Claire was at pétanque 🙂.


We then joined our colleagues from Agapé Europe in Berlin.



There were around 2000 of us gathered to be inspired to reflect the love of Jesus together in Europe.



We spent two of the week's sessions in a small booth to translate the speeches from English into French for our colleagues who were more comfortable listening in their mother tongue.


One afternoon, some of us went for a march for peace in the streets of Berlin, handing out little white flags to passers-by.


Our family stayed an extra 3 days to visit Berlin: the Brandenburg Gate, the Fernsehturm, the French cathedral, Victoria Park and its waterfall, and of course the different parts of the Berlin Wall.

Back from Germany, we spent a few relaxing days in the Vendée countryside with David's parents.



Then back to Rennes for the magnificent wedding of our friends Nathaniel and Mallory at the beginning of August.

We also took advantage of being at home in August to enjoy a few culinary experiences: a surprise meal made by Claire (including croque-monsieurs with brioche and apple chips), a lovely aperitif dinner with friends for David's birthday, handmade sushi by David and home-made burger and chips by Anna (well done for the very successful bread!).
As always, we saw the goodness and faithfulness of our God in all these adventures, for which we are very grateful.

Here's a snapshot of the last few months with the Violleau family. At the end of March, David spent a week in Birmingham, England's second city, working on a project with colleagues from several European countries. Did you know that there are more canals in Birmingham than in Venice? In March, Julie passed her driving test. Parents can now sit in the back! 😃 In April, we started our sabbatical. To start with, David caught up with a few tasks around the house: Chopping and storing wood for the winter... ... trimming the hedges... ... and repotting a few plants. It was nice to spend more time outside. We installed a trampoline in the garden to let off steam after school. It's a real hit! January-February 2025 in pictures

Here are a few photos illustrating the events that have marked our lives since the end of January. At the end of January, Rennes and the surrounding region experienced the worst flooding in forty years. There was no damage to our home, as we live on high ground, but the surrounding scenery was impressive. Sisterly cinema outing 🥰. A glimpse of a day at the office for David and Carolyn. Heading to the village of Vogüé in the Ardèche for the Agapé France National Retreat. It's a long way from Brittany, but the scenery is magnificent! The National Leadership Team met 2 days before the arrival of our other colleagues. Our families gathered to watch the Jesus film for children . All of Agapé France gets together! Carolyn was a happy member of the worship team. Photo opportunity for the Digital team. And a short break for a magnetic table football game. July to October 2024 in pictures

Summer's well and truly over and the temperatures here leave no doubt that autumn is here 🍂😊. So here are a few warm memories of our summer through photos of our family life, our Church life and our ministry with Agapé France. At the beginning of July, we hosted a young Italian girl, who came to France with a group of people from a town twinned with our own. We went to see the Normandy landing beaches and the American cemetery with the group of Italians. Very impressive. We celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary in July! 💞 We started celebrating with a delicious meal, before flying off a few days later for a week in Corsica, just the two of us. We stocked up on wonderful memories. What a privilege! It's a magnificent island. We spent a few days in Lyon with Carolyn's parents at the beginning of August.
